Stepper motor, HT leads and rotor arm

Spent the day literally taking the Chimp apart.
  • Oil and filter change
  • Air filter clean
  • ECU out and checked all readings as per Steve Heaths' Griffith and Chimaera Bible
  • Checked plug gaps
  • Looked for oil leaks
  • Checked Oil pressure relief valve
  • Cleaned stepper motor
Here's what I found:
  1. HT leads needed replacing - done
  2. Injection system over fueling
  3. Rotor Arm knackered - done
  4. Throttle potentiometer badly adjusted - fixed
Car runs much better now - no hesitation and idles perfectly.
Still over fueling - got to sort that.

Oil pressure is on the low side when really hot - suspect the sender or gauge.

The car is mine 07/07/07

Drove across the country to look at the car.

It was a Chimaera 450 (1999), in Starmist blue with magnolia and blue hide and blue carpet.

The car needed a lot of TLC.
Particularly:
  • The leather
  • The hood
  • The body work
  • The Camshaft
However:
  • It was a great price
  • It has a brand spanking new chassis! Not due to accident damage but done under warranty before TVR when belly up
  • It was the model I wanted in colours that I like
Images to come soon!

Cash parted with and driven home - sweet

Noticed a few problems - throttle response pretty poor, engine a bit tappy.
